Juan Carlos Moreno (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid)
Juan Carlos Moreno is Professor in the Department of Linguistics, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid where he teaches courses in Syntax, Semantics and Linguistic Typology.
His books include: Fundamentos de Sintaxis General; Lenguas del Mundo, La lingüística Teórico-Tipológica; Curso Universitario de Lingüística General (2ª ed. 2000); La Dignidad e Igualdad de las lenguas; Semántica y Gramática.
He has conducted the Spanish adaptation and translation of David Crystal’s The Cambridge encyclopedia of language; he has also published several articles in relation to world linguistic diversity and has taken part of the UNESCO’s Scientific Committee for the Informe sobre las Lenguas del Mundo (World Languages Report).
At present he combines his interest for languages with the study of the Sign Language standing out the importance of the later for the Linguistic description. This interest has led him to study sign language disorders.
